The West Liberty Gun Club has a new Airgun Range. It is located just west of Pistol Bay 6 shooting North. Hearing and eye protection is required.

The range is set up for a specific sport called Airgun Field Target. There is a 55 yard sight-in range with a shooting bench. There are five firing lanes for field target shooting. Each lane is 55 yards with two targets per lane. The airgun range is designed for small caliber airguns .177 .22 and .25. Larger caliber airguns should be used on the normal 100 yard range. At no time is this range to be used by any centerfire or rimfire guns.

The targets are not designed for rimfire ammunition and the backstop at the airgun range is not suitable for firearms.  Airguns used on the airgun range should be below 50 ft lb. of energy. About half the power of .22 caliber rimfire. And pellets only.

We are happy to announce the Iowa Field Target Association along with the West Liberty Gun Club is now a member of the American Airgun Field Target Association or AAFTA. This is the governing body of the sport of field target.

As such, we have a bunch of rules we have to follow. First is the West Liberty Gun Club rules. These rules are absolute and for the most part regard safety. Safety cannot be over emphasized.

Next we have the AAFTA rules. These are regarding how the matches are run and how scores are recorded.

Then the Iowa Field Target Association rules. I make them up as I go. My goal is to have fun and introduce people to the sport.
